A personal approach to care
Ellen views health in the context of the whole person: daily habits, emotions, relationships, and the environment all matter. She works with each patient to develop care suited to their needs at that time.
Her practice draws on Eastern and Western traditions. Depending on the individual, her approach may include acupuncture, Chinese herbs, moxibustion, cupping, gua sha, massage, nutrition, aromatherapy, and other modalities.
Experience & education
Ellen earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Michigan in 1976 and worked in nutrition and dietetics overseas for more than ten years, including as Head Dietitian at HaEmek Hospital.
She later studied naturopathic medicine at the National College of Naturopathic Medicine and acupuncture at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine. She received her degree in Oriental Medicine in 1989 and has practiced as a licensed acupuncturist since then. She received her massage therapy license in 1987.
Ellen has taught at OCOM, lectured nationally, and mentored students and acupuncturists. She chaired the Acupuncture Advisory Committee of the Oregon Medical Board from 2009 to 2015.
She is co-author of Chinese Healing Secrets, published in 1997, and is certified in Reconnective Healing and The Reconnection.
