YOUR QUESTIONS

A little clarity
before you begin.

Practical answers about appointments, treatment, and preparing for care.

What are the needles like?

Acupuncture needles are small, solid, and very fine. Ellen uses sterile, single-use needles that are disposed of after treatment.

Does treatment hurt?

People experience needling differently. Ellen’s technique is gentle, and she works with you to keep treatment comfortable. Let her know about any unpleasant sensation so she can adjust the treatment.

How long is an appointment?

Your first assessment and treatment may take up to 90 minutes. Typical follow-up visits last approximately 45 minutes.

How quickly will I notice a change?

Response varies by person and condition. Ellen discusses your goals, checks your response, and adjusts the plan with you. No particular result or number of treatments can be guaranteed.

How often will I need treatment?

Your schedule depends on your concerns, history, and response. Ellen’s existing guidance describes weekly care as a common starting point, with timing adjusted individually.

What should I wear?

Wear loose-fitting clothing that can be rolled above your elbows and knees.

Does insurance cover acupuncture?

Coverage varies. Ellen’s existing policy accepts No-Fault Injury coverage for motor vehicle accidents and Workers’ Compensation, and she can provide documentation for possible reimbursement. Confirm current arrangements with the practice and your insurer.

Can I ask questions before scheduling?

Yes. Call Ellen at 503-656-1956 to discuss the practice’s approach or ask questions about your first visit.
