Your initial assessment
Ellen begins with your chief concern and considers your broader health story. Questions may include sleep, eating habits, emotions, and other symptoms. In the Chinese medicine tradition, viewing the tongue and feeling the pulse may also be part of the assessment.
During treatment
Ellen uses a gentle needling technique and works closely with you to keep treatment comfortable. Sensations vary from person to person; please speak up if you experience discomfort.
Needles are typically retained for about 20 minutes. Soothing music may be played, and you can use this time to rest.
After treatment
Individual responses vary. Discuss how you feel with Ellen, including any changes in your symptoms or concerns following your visit.
The existing practice guidance describes possible short-term experiences such as light-headedness, sleepiness, mild bruising, or muscle aching. Contact Ellen with questions or concerns.
Your course of care
Ellen discusses a proposed course of treatment at your first visit. Your health history, goals, and response help determine the frequency and number of follow-up appointments.
